Briefly describe your testimony of coming to Christ…
I have been fortunate to have been raised in the church by parents who have been wonderful examples of what it means to follow Christ, so in many ways it feels as though I have always been a part of the Christian community. This was made more explicit for me when I was in high school, and I had a more tangible awareness that God’s grace was extended to me and that I needed to respond to that grace.
Briefly describe your understanding of God’s calling on your life…
From my senior year of college, I have felt called to work within theological education. I knew that I wanted to be a part of equipping future pastors and lay people–to help them wrestle with questions about God, the church, and our world. I want to teach students how to approach the study of Scripture and hear from the voices of those who have come before us, and I have definitely felt reaffirmed in my desire to minister to and educate students in this capacity over and over again these past few years.
How did you come to the Free Methodist Church?
I joined the Free Methodist church just over a decade ago when I came to Azusa Pacific University for college. My time there was my first experience with Free Methodism, and coupled with my decision to join Foothill Community Church, I realized that the FMC’s theology, values, and heart for being the hands and feet of Christ were things I wanted to get in on too.
